Pram-friendly walkways in Tauranga

Make the most of the sunny weather by getting outdoors for a walk. Whether you are looking for a walkway to take your stroller or let your little one ride their bike while you walk, here are the best relaxing and scenic walkways in Tauranga.

Gordon Carmicheal Reserve Walkway

Gordon Carmicheal Reserve is located between Bethlehem and Brookfield and has a mixture of boardwalk and gravel tracks. The walk is flat and very easy. There is no shortage of bird life and native plants to see. A small pond is home to many ducks, swans and pukehos. A good size playground, toilet facilities, drinking fountain, picnic tables and BBQs are located right next to the carpark and playground.

KULIM TO FERGUSSON PARK

This walk is a very easy and relaxing walk along the waters edge of inner Tauranga Harbour and has magnificent views of Mount Maunganui. The path is paved so it’s suitable to take a push scooter. Both parks at either end of the walkway have playgrounds, toilet facilities, picnic areas and BBQs.

Mauao Base Track

The easiest walk at the Mount is the Base Track which is a gentle walk on a light gravel surface. It has a nice wide walkway with the sea on one side of you the whole way around.

Papamoa Reserve Walkway

Through Papamoa, the Papamoa Reserve walkways follow the storm water reserves. These light gravel pathways are easily accessible and are great for walking and cycling. A peaceful and gentle walkway provides a link from Pacific View Road to Wairakei Reserve. There are many sights along the way, including little bridges to cross, ducks, a lake and large weeping willows.

Waikareao Estuary Walkway

The walk around Waikareao Estuary is a mixture of flat boardwalks, gravel and sealed footpath. It is a 9km loop track which is ideal for walking and cycling. This gentle and scenic walk will have you walking through tidal mangrove, marshland and bush with lots of bird life. The best place to start is the Daisy Hardwick section of the walkway which starts by the carpark on Maxwells Road.

Yatton Park

Yatton Park, in Tauranga South is home to mature exotic and native trees, beautiful gardens, meandering streams, ponds and BBQ areas. It is home to some of the city’s tallest trees and is a popular area for dog walking, cycling and walking. Next to the carpark is a new playground that is shaded by large trees for your little one to enjoy before or after your walk.
